S T A P L E S.

I have a few must haves for healthy, plant based eating. Here are a few things that are always in my cupboard/fridge to make my life a whole lot easier + healthier.

COCONUT OIL - Not only for cooking but also for body care. It's my favourite moisturizer for hair + skin, it is also a key ingredient in my home made body butter, lip gloss + deodorant. A spoonful of heaven. For cooking it can be heated to high temperatures without denaturing, it can be substituted for butter in baking, used as 'butter' on toast - add a few slices of avocado + you have magic. Use it as a mouthwash, it fights bad breath.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR - This bad boy is amazing for salad dressings + cooking. I drink it with water + a smidgen of honey every morning to get my digestive enzymes firing up. It alkalizes the system, detoxifies, gives the skin + hair a gorgeous sheen, + can be used as a toner.

ALMOND BUTTER - I am addicted to almond butter. Natural, straight up almond butter. If I've made it myself - even better. In a mad dash out of the house...a quick + easy snack is mejdool dates with almond butter, sweet, satisfying + delicious. It's great in dressings, quinoa bowls, for breakfast....pretty much any time.

CHICKPEAS - In salads, roasted, stews, so many options for these little guys. One of my favourite dishes is a kale salad with roasted beets, can of chickpeas + avocado. So yummy. Chickpeas are a great source of protein + add that extra heartiness to so many dishes.

DARK CHOCOLATE - Like real dark. 80% to 95%. When my want for a little indulgence of something sweet kicks in, I grab a couple of squares of dark chocolate + I am satisfied. No nasty binge eating, just a couple of sweet treats. Raw cacao mixed with hot steamy almond milk is also a favourite, there are so many health benefits to raw cacao.....it's also an aphrodisiac so get your turn on happening from this beauty.
