9 Practices for a happy life

1. Don't diet or deprive. 
Healthy eating is a lifestyle. Dieting, depriving or starving just makes you want the bad stuff more. Add in loads of the good stuff + you won't want the bad stuff as much. Recognize what food is, its fuel to nourish your body, it boosts your energy + is a pleasure to eat. 

2. Cook once, eat twice or maybe three times.
Make enough of your healthy dinner so you've got lunches for the next few days. It's a time saver, you're not scrambling for lunches + you save money. Meal plan for the week. 

3. Meditate.
Calm the mind, be present. Living in the future - anxiety, consumed by the past - depression. S l o w  d o w n + be in this moment. 

4. Fats.
Get educated on your fats. Get all the good ones in. Healthy skin, shiny hair? Load up on your fats. Avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, nuts, seeds. 

5. Mindfulness.
Cultivate a few habits that keep you in the present moment + steady in the mind. A few of mine.
- don't check my phone/social media for at least half an hour after I wake up.
- sit at the table until I have finished chewing my last bite {this is a hard one for some reason}
- no phone at least one hour before bed.                                                                                      - get out in nature + really become aware of your surroundings. The branches, the snowflakes, the subtle movement.    

6. Gratitude.
Focus on the things you are grateful for in your life. Cultivate a positive attitude. Focus on 3 things you are grateful for everyday, shifting your attention will make you happier.  

7. Smile.
Everyday. There is always something to be thankful for. Tread lightly, life doesn't need to be so serious. We're only here for a short time - live life like its your last day. One day it will be. 

8. Chew.
We don't chew our food anymore. We're always in a rush - somewhere to go, somewhere to be. Sit, eat, be mindful + chew your food. A lot. Aim for 30 chews per bite. It alleviates a lot of digestive issues + strengthens the jaw. 

9. Water.
Water gives you boundless energy + glowing skin. Every morning wake up + hydrate with water + apple cider vinegar. Consume half your body weight in ounces of water throughout the day. Mountain spring water is definite high vibe energy water. If it's near you - get some.
